In Dzogchen receiving the Direct Transmission or Introduction to the Nature of Mind from the Master is indispensable. It is the means by which the teacher introduces us directly to our primordial state and the starting point of our Dzogchen practice.
Ideally, it is best to receive the Direct Transmission from the teacher in person by attending a retreat, but since this is not always possible, Namkhai Norbu Rinpoche also gives us opportunity three times a year (on the anniversaries of Garab Dorje, Guru Padmasambhava, and Adzom Drugpa ) to receive it via webcast.
