Ku Nye – Θιβετιανό μασάζ Eπαγγελματική Εκπαίδευση στο Kunselling

Shang Shung Institute UK is pleased to offer the second part of this two-part residential training in Ku Nye massage at Kunselling, the Dzogchen Community’s retreat centre in Wales.

(for those who have already participated in Part I of the course)

The traditional Tibetan massage system of Ku Nye is one of several external therapies of the Tibetan healing system and is cited in the Four Buddhist Medical Tantras, the essential corpus of Tibetan medicine. Ku Nye originated in the ancient kingdom of Shang Shung in the pre-Buddhist Bon culture, approximately four thousand years ago.

The Shang Shung Institute UK offers a two-part training and qualification in this unique therapy.

A full Ku Nye professional qualification will be granted after attending both parts of the residential course – 11 days and 7 days (total of 130 hours) at Kunselling – and passing the final theoretical and practical exams.

The first part of the Ku Nye training (80 hours teaching and practice) – May 12th – May 22nd 2017 [COMPLETED]

The second part of the Ku Nye training (50 hours teaching, practice and final exams) – April 16th – 23rd 2018

Traditional Tibetan Ku Nye massage can be divided into three phases:

  • KU – the preliminary phase: applying oil, infused with medicinal or herbal substances corresponding to the type of illness, symptoms, and personality of the patient, to the entire body
  • NYE – the central phase of treatment: diverse manual techniques, applying digital pressure on the skin, muscles, nerves, tendons and energy points
  • CHI – the concluding phase: removing the oily residue on the body with flour, to eliminate the risk of any eventual imbalance caused by leftover substances

What are the benefits of Ku Nye?

The function of Ku Nye therapy is to help balance the systems of the body, relax tensions and revitalize energy. For many centuries, Ku Nye therapy has been used to relieve muscle and joint pain, mobilize the joints, reduce stiffness, balance the neurological system, rejuvenate coarse and dry skin, alleviate symptoms of mental and physical stress, anxiety, depression, grief, insomnia, constipation, and support the healthy function of digestion. It is also recognised as the main therapy for balancing the Wind Humour, the main humour imbalance of our modern life-style and diet.

Description of the course

Sessions will comprise theoretical and practical training. Students will learn: history, origins, characteristics and objectives of traditional Tibetan Medicine and Ku Nye massage; cosmology in the Tibetan tradition and subtle anatomy; the three humors, the five elements, the seven constituents, the six tastes; organs and chakras and their characteristics, interdependencies and disturbances; etiology of pathologic processes; preparation of the massage oils according to the condition of the patient.

The final examinations, both theoretical and practical, will take place at the end of the second stage. On passing, students will receive a Diploma awarded by the Shang Shung Foundation.
